There’s no such thing as private religion.

Too many politicians say things like, “I’m personally against abortion, but I believe in the right to choose.” People like Democratic vice-presidential candidate and Catholic Tim Kaine, for example.

And now Texas gubernatorial candidate Andrew White, a longtime elder in the conservative Presbyterian Church in America, has earned LGBT endorsements for promising not to bring his religion into office.

“My personal faith is personal to me, but I will not let it interfere with how I govern,” White told the Houston Chronicle. And he added that he would respect so-called “marriage equality” and Roe v. Wade if elected.

If he really believes the unborn are human beings, how can he support the “right” to have them killed? If he really believes marriage is the union of a man and a woman, how can he support the legal fantasy of same-sex “marriage”?

I’m sure glad that Christians of previous generations let their faith interfere with how they governed when it came to things like slavery and genocide.
