How much smartphone time is too much?
According to a recent piece in The New York Times, many parents in Silicon Valley severely limit their children’s screen time. The author explained, “Technologists know how phones really work, and many have decided they don’t want their own children anywhere near them.”
On the candy-to crack cocaine scale, as one Silicon Valley dad put it, phones are closer to crack—in addiction and in harm. It’s fascinating to me that more and more tech-savvy parents are either saying no to smartphones for their kids or delaying when they’re allowed to have them.
You might think, if you’re like many parents, it’s too late. The cat’s out of the bag. Is it possible to reassert control over the phones that control our kids, without causing an all-out mutiny?
My friends at Axis think it is possible. Their free video series called “Reclaiming the Smartphone” explains how. It has great advice on the most asked questions when it comes to kids and smartphones. You can find the video series at BreakPoint.org/phone.
