We live in a fragmented and, now, isolated age. How do we live an integrated life?
A long-time mentor for me in this area, mostly through print, is Dr. Steven Garber. His new book, “The Seamless Life: A Tapestry of Love & Learning, Worship & Work” is perfect for quarantine. Weaving together beautifully told stories about people he’s met, from Presbyterian cowboys to U2 to prayerful candy executives, along with inspiring art and literature he’s encountered, Garber walks through, from a variety of angles, how we can better find integrated lives that are in tune with God’s work of restoration.
And Steve reminds us that while “we can’t care about everything everywhere, we can care about something somewhere.” And so this book is a journey of what he calls “the proximate,” integrated living on this side of restoration.
