Civil disagreement—or civility in discourse—seems a lofty goal in our angry and polarized public square. But as Christopher Love argues, it is a necessary ingredient to a well-ordered society. In this presentation given at St. George’s Anglican Church in Colorado Springs, Love defines civil disagreement, presents a case for it from secular and a theological perspective, and provides strategies for engaging in civil discourse.

Love is an Active Duty officer who teaches philosophy at the U.S. Air Force Academy. He writes on civil disagreement and related topics at civil-america.blog.
