During last week’s total solar eclipse, Netflix reported a ten percent drop in viewership. The company tweeted out jokingly, “just wondering why 10% of you chose to watch a giant rock cover a giant ball of gas…”
Maybe because God’s creation is grander and more exciting than anything TV has to offer. Scripture constantly speaks of God’s majesty reflected in the natural world. “The heavens declare the glory of God,” wrote the psalmist. God told Abram to look up at the stars as a sign of His promise. And Paul writes that God’s power and deity are so obvious when we study nature that unbelievers are “without excuse.”
As Jay Richards of the Discovery Institute points out, the opportunities for scientific experiments eclipses afford are some of the best proofs that our planet is the product of intelligent design.
