Right words, but wrong message. For the Colson Center, I’m John Stonestreet with The Point.
Perhaps you’ve seen the rainbow sign in front of a church with a billboard that reads, “God is still speaking.” Of course God is still speaking.
But what He’s saying isn’t what the sign makers—or many of us—want to hear. He is saying what He has always said, “The Kindgom of God is at hand! Repent, and believe the Gospel!”
He’s begging, through the truths found in places like Zechariah 1: “Return to me . . . Return now from your evil ways and your evil deeds.” Jesus is still inviting, “Come to me all you who travail and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.”
As always, what holds us back from hearing and returning to God with our whole heart is sin. Our lust, anger, greed, spiritual laziness, selfishness, confusion, and hard-heartedness.
You see, God’s still speaking, but He’s not saying anything new. He’s saying the same thing that He’s always said, but now to us: Seek, and you shall find. Knock and the door will be opened to you.
The question is, are we listening?
