A new study by scientists concludes that the universe shouldn’t exist. Or at least that scientists can’t figure out why it exists.

And yet, here we are.

As reported in the UK’s Independent, according to the current scientific model, “at the beginning of the universe . . . there were equal amounts of matter and anti-matter. The trouble with that is that they would each have annihilated each other, leaving none of the matter that surrounds us today.”

It’s almost as if something is holding the universe together. Well, check out Colossians 1:17 for a hint.

Now, I have no doubt scientists will continue to grow in their understanding of the mechanics of how the universe has been sustained. But that knowledge is only possible because, as Colson Center Senior Fellow Glenn Sunshine wrote at BreakPoint.org, it was created by a rational God. Therefore, the universe is rational. And because we humans who are made in His image are rational as well, we’re able to discover the laws He built into the universe from the very beginning.
