So WHY is abortion not funny?
The raunchy and tasteless routine comedian Michelle Wolf delivered at the White House Correspondents Dinner, featured unrepeatable jabs at the press secretary, as well as this dig at Vice President Mike Pence’s pro-life views:
“…don’t knock [abortion] till you try it,” joked Wolf. “And when you do try it, really knock it, you know. You got to get that baby out of there.”
When asked on CNN about this horrifying line, outgoing Planned Parenthood president, Cecile Richards, said, “This isn’t a topic that I make jokes about because…I see what women face in this country just to access care and how much stigma and shame there already is…”
Hold on a minute, Cecile. Joking about something ought to remove the stigma, not worsen it. Could it really be that you know abortion is the killing of an unborn human being?
There’s more to notice here than the depths to which a comedian sank, namely that the country’s most prominent abortion advocate isn’t laughing.
