The Point: Wilberforce Award Winner Alan Sears

This year’s Wilberforce Award winner is . . .  For the Colson Center for Christian Worldview, I’m John Stonestreet with the Point.

In 1987 Chuck Colson established the William Wilberforce Award to honor those who show courage and perseverance in the face of injustice and opposition, just like the 18th century abolitionist.

And this year the Colson Center honored someone who certainly exemplifies Wilberforce’s passion and tenacity: Alan Sears, the Founder of the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF).

Under Alan’s leadership, ADF has become the premiere legal defender of marriage, human dignity, and religious freedom—having contributed to 49 victories in the Supreme Court, and training more than 1,900 lawyers to defend liberty in 45 countries.

Sears has devoted his 23-year career to “serving God and defending His people”—whether it’s a Christian florist, an Amish small business, Christian schools, or believing medical professionals.

I’m thrilled that Alan has won the Wilberforce Award this year. Come to BreakPoint.org to learn more about him and ADF.
