Pray for the Persecuted in Burkina Faso

Last year, churches in the African nation of Burkina Faso, including a Catholic Church in Dablo, were attacked, most likely by Muslim extremists. Six people were shot dead before the church was set on fire, killing another two dozen.

Sadly, since then, the suffering in Burkina Faso has only gotten worse. On February 16, “at least two dozen” more people were killed during services in a Protestant church in Yagha Province in the northern part of the country. Another 18 were wounded and several more were kidnapped.

As al Jazeera reported, “Christians and churches have become frequent targets in the north of the country.” And the word “frequent” is becoming more and more of an understatement.

If you aren’t praying for our brothers and sisters in Burkina Faso—and elsewhere—please start. Add them to your daily prayer list. To paraphrase Paul in 2 Corinthians, let us not remain ignorant of their hardships, and pray that God would “deliver” them “from deadly peril.”
