Late last month, 18-year-old Chloe Cole sued medical provider Kaiser Permanente for surgically and chemically altering her body. Put on puberty blockers at age 12, Chloe started testosterone at 13 and underwent a double mastectomy at 15. By 16, Chloe realized the mistake she’d made and has now “detransitioned.”

No one warned her to pause, reconsider, or take more time.

Chloe is one of countless girls today pressured by doctors, teachers, peers, and media to believe they were born into the wrong body. As Jordan Peterson noted in his interview with Cole, 80 to 90% of teens who experience gender dysphoria naturally grow out of it. Instead of helping girls navigate puberty and its challenges, many seek to pathologize it.

Chloe’s story reaffirms that any ideas we have about our bodies will have consequences. Bad ideas will have victims, like Chloe. Let’s pray that her story can help to expose the lie of so-called “gender-affirming care” and bring an end to this cultural nightmare.
