A recent Barna Poll revealed that 96 percent of Christian millennials believe that getting to know Jesus is the best thing that could ever happen to a person. And 76 percent feel they are gifted at sharing their faith. And 47 percent of believe that it’s wrong to “share one’s personal beliefs with someone of a different faith in hopes that they will one day share the same faith.”
Wait. What?
So, Jesus is the best, and I’m good at sharing my faith, but it’s wrong to do so?
As Barna’s David Kinnaman explains, this apparent contradiction is because “…cultivating deep, steady, resilient Christian conviction is difficult in a world of ‘you do you’ and ‘don’t criticize anyone’s life choices.’”
This is why I’m a devoted supporter of Summit Ministries, which immerses older teens and college students in Christian worldview at their two-week conferences. I’ve taught at Summit for years: Not only are students grounded in truth, their faith is activated.
